Smoking Doubles the Risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Not only does smoking increase the risks of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, emphysema, but also arthritis.

According to a study by researcher Dr Henrik Kallberg of Sweden, “smoking was a very significant risk factor for rheumatoid arthritis, reinforcing findings from previous studies.” The study interestingly found that moderate alcohol consumption, five glasses of wine weekly, lowered the risk of arthritis by 50%.
