Chantix still potentially dangerous for quit smoking according to FDA warnings

On Monday the US based Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declared that it is maintaining the warning associated with the consumption of Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)’s anti-smoking drug called Chantix. The intake of Chanitx can lead to neuropsychiatric issues that can often result into either seizures or the development of suicidal demeanor. The F&D Administration (FDA) decided not to take off the black-box caution on Chantix, the anti smoke drug by Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE).

The caution on the back side of the drug’s packaging came as a result of an advice given by the advisory committee who unanimously decided last year in October that the warning related to the side-effects of the drug should be marked on the label. Out of the 18 participants of the advisory committee, 11 voted in favor of keeping the black-box caution intact, while 6 voted towards using some other form of warning rather than the existing one.
