Family Smoking Prevention And Tobacco Control Act

On April 2, 2009, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act was passed by the House of Representatives. This past week, the act was passed out of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions by a vote of 15 to 8. The bill is meant to help prevent children from taking up smoking.

NH begins effort to get mothers to stop smoking

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – New Hampshire is using Mother’s Day weekend to start a new effort to help mothers stop smoking.

The state says it is focusing on mothers and women of childbearing age because tobacco affects the health of women, and their children.
